Mary, however, sat quietly at Jesus’ feet and listened. Martha’s work was not wrong, but her focus had shifted. She became so distracted by responsibility that she nearly missed the moment with the Lord Himself. This lesson explores how easy it is for modern Christians to fall into the same pattern. We can be busy with life, work, and even church activity while neglecting the one thing that truly sustains us, time with Christ. Jesus did not condemn service. He corrected priorities. Mary chose the “good part,” fellowship with the Savior, attention to His word, and presence in the moment. The challenge for us is clear. Do not let good responsibilities crowd out the best relationship. We need Martha’s hands, but we must never lose Mary’s heart.
